In park-like surroundings, just outside the old centre of the town of Woerden, lies the nursing-home "Weddesteyn" and the service flat "De Vossenschans". The eight-storey complex with small one-person rooms and a monotone appearance did not comply with present day living demands. A new low complex of spacious apartments has been created next to the nursing home, providing for contempory living requirements. By connecting the new building with the original nursing-home, a new care complex with a large differentiation has been created. The new building consists of a long stretched, curved block with in total 60 free sector rental houses. A corridor with 88 social rental houses on both sides runs from the new block to Weddesteyn. The main entrance and a large communal area are located at the connection point with the old building. The new building divides the terrain which formed part of the commission. The west side is turned into a close area, allowing parking between the trees. The eastside is a large park-like garden with a large pond.
