Maarten first gained experience at the agencies of Rem Koolhaas and Ben van Berkel. This experience helped form an architectural approach in which he distances himself from universally declared principles to make space for a line of reasoning that is specifically tailored to a design project. He believes that the formulation of a concept that is strong enough to withstand a changing reality is essential. His approach is practical and leaves room for the contributions of the other parties involved in the design process.
